Altec Users,
I?ve decided to sell a pair of 291-16K compression drivers, without diaphragms, and direct replacement NOS 25884 (8 ohm Pascalite) diaphragms for them that have been sitting in my work room for the last few years. I?m initially offering them to members of this board. They are intended to be sold as a set, but I will consider selling the drivers only.
The drivers were originally installed around 1980 in the Minneapolis Metrodome (home of the Twins and the Vikings), which is where they acquired an exterior coat of beige paint. You can see they are clean internally. The drivers have complete original hardware, including the often discarded adjustable dowel locating pins that are required to properly position a replacement diaphragm. One driver does has a very slight bit of ferrite material flaked off the sharp edge of the outer magnet structure, but this should not audibly affect performance.
I purchased the 25884 diaphragms from Altec Lansing, OKC, in the late 90s for use in a project with the 291-16Ks that never happened.
Items are available for pickup here in Pearland, Texas. I?m asking $575 for drivers plus diaphragms, or $350 for drivers only. Shipping available via UPS Ground to U.S. or Canadian addresses at additional cost. Cash, check or M/O.
If interested, have questions, or want additional photos, send me a PM or an Email.
Jeff

Hmm-essentially 299's.
Darn good stuff. Your price is quite reasonable.
I'm trying to figure some way to hide the expenditure...if you get a chance to sell, go ahead...I need a couple more pairs of 12" and 299 traps, but according to the terms of the OG/Redhead treaty, all expenditures must be approved by both parties..so if I get this I'll have to let her buy something similar..man it would be great to have TWO pairs...Fat Chance.
